August Edgar “Pete” Peters, age 88, died at Truman Healthcare Center, Friday, February 21, 2014.
Mr. Peters was born December 26, 1925, in Washington, MO to Edgar Peters and Alma (Filla) Peters. He was raised and went to school in Washington, MO area. He served in the US Navy. On April 28, 1951 he married Rosemary Anna Rickert. He worked in the St. Louis area for many years before moving to Lamar, MO in 1965. He worked again in St. Louis, Arizona, and Lamar areas. He retired from O’Sullivan Industries and opened a saw sharpening business in his home shop. Mr. Peters was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lamar, MO. He was also a VFW member and a member of Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, being outside but especially loved his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Mr. Peters is survived by his wife, Rosemary Peters; sons and their wives, Dale & Delores Peters, Lamar, MO, Dan and Jill Peters, Lamar, MO, Dennis Peters, Pittsburg, KS, Douglas Peters, Smyrna, TN, Dean & Kelli Peters, Liberty Hill, TX, Andrew & Jan Peters, Springfield, MO; two daughters, Susanne & Terry Perelman, Henderson, NV and Jeanne & Dean Buffington, Chinook, MT; sixteen grandchildren, Levi & Amy Peters, Lindsey & Greg Williams, Lisa Peters, Jenny Peters, Matthew & Olivia Peters, Ryan Peters, Sean Peters, Megan Peters, Amanda & Scott Shapiro, Natalie Peters, Philip Perelman, Dylan Perelman, Jamal Kasem, Charis & Jeff Harrison, Ethan Buffington, James Buffington; and four great-grandsons, Jackson Williams, Tyler Williams, Reuben Peters, and Joseph Peters; two step-brothers, Gary Peters and Brad Peters; a step-sister, Connie Reger; a brother-in-law, Jim Geoghagen; extended family, friends, and neighbors.
Mr. Peters was preceded in death by his father Edgar Peters; his mother Alma Peters; step-mother, Lorene Peters, two sisters, Jane Geoghagen, and Dorothy Berner; and an infant daughter Deborah Jane Peters.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 27, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
A private graveside service will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
