Keith DeWitt

Keith G. DeWitt, 87, Joplin, died Feb. 25, 2014 at Joplin Health and Rehab.

 Keith was born Sept. 14, 1926 in Republic, MO and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Republic High School in 1944 and following his graduation, he entered into the service, serving in the U.S. Navy during WW II and Korea. Following his military service, he worked for KPL Gas Service, now MGE as a supervisor. Keith was a former member of the Neosho Kiwanis Club; an avid square dancer, he supplied many people with firewood and loved to travel. He was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church and was a former choir member.

 Keith and Evelyn (Modell) were married on Oct. 4, 1947 at Monett and she survives. He is also survived by five children, Mike DeWitt and wife, Ruthann, Oronogo; Jan Watson and husband, Ed, Joplin; Gary DeWitt and wife, Mary, Hermann; Tricia McKay and husband, Jay, Mindenmines and Beth Hyde and husband, Jeff, Canyon County, CA; daughter in law, Beth DeWitt, Kaneohe, Hawaii; brother, Porter DeWitt and wife, Brenta, Skiatook, OK; sister, Carol E. Coggin and husband, Herb, Republic; 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Keith is preceded in death by a son, Steve DeWitt and a brother, Kent DeWitt.
