Jesse E. “J.R.”Simmons, 70, of Carthage passed away Thursday morning at his residence in Carthage, Missouri.
JR was born in Carthage to Jesse “Woody” Simmons Jr. and Lorrain “Stiles” Simmons. He was a longtime Carthage resident. He attended school in Whittier, California then moved back to Carthage. JR worked for H.E. Williams and then Leggett and Platt for several years. He was an avid baseball card collector and Nass car fan. He left behind a “1964” Black Chevy Impala.
JR was united in marriage to Belva Garrison November 6, 1965 in Alba, Missouri, Belva passed November 1, 2006. JR is survived by four Aunts and one Uncle, Luella Mathis and Roger Mathis of Alba, Pam Stiles of Carthage and Jane Stiles of Carl Junction and several cousins. Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday February 27, 2014 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
