Vivian Loucille Cole, age 94, La Russell, Missouri, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Friday, February 07, 2014 at her home after an illness.
Vivian was born December 26, 1919 in Joplin to the late Eddie E. Evans and Eliza E. Berry Evans and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
Vivian graduated from Pittsburg State Teachers College with a Masters Degree in Education. She worked as a school teacher for 38 years and was active with the Reinmiller Community Center.
She married John E. Cole on November 18, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1974.
She was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Cole and his wife, Betty, Carterville, Danny R. Cole and his wife, Sandra, Seneca; two daughters, Katheryn Mattingly and her husband, Bill, Centerton, Arkansas, Janet Webster and her husband, Louis, Seneca; two brothers, Ronnie Evans, Kentucky and Herold Evans; one sister, Judy Stirewalt, Springfield, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bobby Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
