Don Moore

Donald Newton "Don" Moore, age 89,. Carl Junction, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.

Don was born May 5, 1924 in Smithfield, Missouri, son of the late Robert and Maude Moore. He graduated from Carl Junction High School, and served in the United States Army during World War II. He has lived in the Carl Junction, Joplin area all of his life. He worked for over 50 years wtih the Joplin Globe in the composing room. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; grandsons, Erick Grove and Jamey White; great-granddaughter, Mary Margaret Grove; and his two sisters, Helen Wade and Katie Riley.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda White and husband Newt of Carl Junction, Donna Grove and husband Rick of Webb City, and Jeanne Peterson and husband Roy of Joplin; grandchildren, Melissa Graves and husband Roger of Galena, Kansas, Michael Grove and wife Kelly of Olathe, Kansas, Troy Peterson and wife Christin of Joplin, Gina Peterson of Springfield, Missouri, Justin White and wife Amanda of Carl Junction, and Aaron Grove of Carthage, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Jessica Weber and husband Brett of Joplin, Seth Graves of Galena, Ryan Graves of Galena, Cecelia Grove of Olathe, Katherine Grove of Olathe, Emma Peterson of Joplin, Tatum White of Carl Junction, Madison Graves of Galena, Kyler White of Carl Junction, Wesley Peterson of Joplin, and Keagyn White of Carl Junction; one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christian Church of Carl Junction with Pastors Cody Stinnett and Boyce Mouton officiating. Interment will follow in Carl Junction Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Christian Church of Carl Junction, or the Life of Hope; or the Mary Margaret Grove Memorial Fund.
