Dorothy Frederick

Dorothy Frederick, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Overland Park, Kansas.

 Dorothy was born on October 19, 1924 in Keokuk, Iowa. She was a longtime resident of Carthage from 1945 until moving to Overland Park in 2010. Dorothy was a homemaker. She also worked in Dr. Whitten office for several years. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage where she sang in the choir, Alberta Tarr Circle, and formerly in Surviving Spouses. Dorothy was a Den leader for the Boy Scouts of America and volunteered at St. Luke’s playing the organ for residents. 

Dorothy married William “Bill” Frederick on August 13, 1945 in Waco, Texas. He preceded her in June of 1991. Survivors include two sons Tom Frederick and wife Kathy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Rob Frederick and wife Cheryl of Kansas City, Missouri, four grandchildren Elliott Frederick, Cory Frederick, Joshua Wynia, and Chad Wynia, seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded by her parents, her daughter Cheryl Frederick Kardell on October 10, 1997, two brothers, and one sister.

 Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, in Carthage. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
