(From Clark Funeral Home)Velma Lea Edens, 76, Granby, MO, left this earth for her Heavenly home at 11:26 am, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at her home. Velma was born Oct. 27, 1944 just a mile from where she passed to Jessie and Agnes Loy (Ivie) Walker.
Velma attended Granby schools and she loved chorus class at school and was a member of a Christian Quartet at the Granby Nazarene Church. In February of 1962, Ronald and Quetta McDermott set Larry Edens and Velma on a blind date. They went and watched ‘North to Alaska’ at the Lux Theatre in Granby. On November 4, 1962, they eloped to Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Larry preceded her in death on June 9, 2009.
Velma received salvation in 1969 in Gillette, Wyoming at Cornerstone Church of God. She loved playing the piano and singing at home and at the Granby Miracle Church and Oil of Joy Ministries, where she was a member. She deeply loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Freddie (Jody) Edens, Larry J. Edens and wife, Rev. Shelly Edens and Brian Edens and wife, Denise; a sister, Louise Thrasher and husband, Don; eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Alta Ruth Self, two brothers, Harold Walker and Martin ‘Junior’ Walker and a great grandson, Logan Hunter Folsom.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 2 pm at the Greenwood Cemetery, Rev. Shelly Edens will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Aaron, Laci, Dakota and Raven Edens, Jairus Moore and Megan Wallace. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby on Thursday from 9 am until 6 pm and the family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 pm at the funeral home.
