(From Parker Mortuary)Janice Grainger, age 71, passed away Wednesday, December 7th, 2022 at Freeman Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born May 30th, 1951 to Robert and Velma Kissinger.
Janice was most proud of her commitment to her family. She often enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many times, the first thing she spoke of were her children and grandchildren. She held many jobs throughout her life, but she considered her more than 20 years of service at Lowes in Joplin as her career. She helped open the store and was one of the last original employees when she retired in 2014.
Janice was a very friendly person, finding new family every day.
She is survived by her children Cindy Sprague and partner Stacy of Stockton, Robert Sprague and wife Meghan of Joplin, grandchildren Colton and partner Mark of Pittsburg, Cassidy and husband Carlos of Carthage, Rylee, Ryan, and Raelyn of Joplin. She is also survived by her brother Ronney Kissinger and wife Linda of Siloam Springs. Her sister in all but blood, Darlene Sprague and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends she met in her life.
The family asks for any donations be made to Hope Lodge of St Louis in Janice’s name. During treatments at Barnes Jewish, this charity, ran by the American Cancer Society, provides the family a clean and safe place to sleep and a community of people going through similar experiences.
