Ginger English

Virginia L. ‘Ginger’ English, age 96 of Joplin, passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Westgate at Wildwood in Joplin, Missouri. Ginger was born November 6, 1926 in Joplin to the late Claire F. Phillips and Margaret Wilcoxson Phillips.

Ginger worked for the Webb City School District as a Teacher’s Aide for many years. After retirement, she became a homemaker, always making her family a true priority. 








She was an active member of Royal Heights United Methodist Church until her health stopped her from being able to attend. You could find Ginger at her favorite shopping place, Wal-Mart quite often or enjoying all the many activities she loved like camping, playing cards or just visiting all her precious friends.

Other than her parents, Ginger is preceded in death by two husbands, Paul Benjamin and later David English; sons, Steve Benjamin and wife, Anita, as well as, Charles Benjamin and wife, Linda; one sister, Bonnie Fielding.

Those surviving Ginger include a son, David Benjamin and wife, Cheryl of Olathe, Kansas; 5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and extended family and friends.








A graveside service is planned for Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Royal Heights United Methodist Church of Joplin.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
