(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Aaron Lee Matthews, age 51 of Joplin passed away on August 30th, 2023 at his home. Born February 23, 1972 in Granada Hills, California, he was the son of Fred and Sue Matthews. He graduated from Diamond High School in 1990.
Aaron was a skilled carpenter and mechanic. He loved cars and enjoyed building several over his life time. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, watching Chiefs football and rock music, especially Metallica. He loved his children and proudly told everyone about their accomplishments.
He is survived by his two children Kelsie Matthews and Payton Matthews of Neosho, his parents Fred and Sue Matthews of Anderson, his brother Vince Matthews and wife Malynda of Neosho, nephew Tanner Matthews and niece Kinsley Matthews, as well as his cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Paul and Irene Shuey, paternal grandparents Phyllis and Pat Patterson, and aunt, Carol Hinckley.
His family loved him deeply and will miss him dearly. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
