(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Joseph “Joe” Clyde Evans, 76, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri. Joe was born on November 27, 1946, at home in Long Lane, Missouri to Cecil and Rosa (Phillips) Evans.
Joe served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Joe was a truck driver and diesel mechanic from 1975 to 2014 when he was forced into retirement due to having a stroke. He was a loving husband and loved his grandkids and great grandkids with a passion.
Joe was united in marriage to Brenda Patrick on September 13, 1976.
Joe is survived by his wife, Brenda Evans of Carthage, Missouri; a daughter, LaTisha Robertson (Tim) of Arma, Kansas; four grandchildren, Eli Gilbird (Anna), David Combs, Ethan Combs, and Khloe Combs, all of Carthage, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Alexis Hershey, Remington, River, and Ryker Gilbird, all of Carthage, Missouri; a brother, James Evans of Buffalo, Missouri; and six sisters, Nellie Bryant (Kenny) of Lebanon, Missouri, Sue Lowe (Frank) of Texas, Mary Ann Van Deren (Wendell) of Bolivar, Missouri, Pearl White (Allen) of Elkland, Missouri, Martha Owens (Mike) of Porte Charlotte, Florida, and Shauna Strickland (Jim) of Central, South Carolina.
Joe is preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Combs; his parents, Cecil and Rosa Evans; and a brother, Cecil Warren Evans.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2023, at Three Points Full Gospel Church in Carthage, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage.
