Barbara Cope

Barbara E, Cope, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023, in Grove, Oklahoma at the Grandwood Sunrise Villa. She was born on July 18, 1946 in Stella, Missouri to the late Tharold C. and Ila Bernice (Durham) Harris.

She worked alongside her parents operating the Dairy Cone in Anderson, Missouri for several years. 

Barbara graduated from Anderson High School and then to Crowder College before moving to the Kansas City area and meeting her husband Galen Cope. They lived in the Kansas City area until his passing. She was employed by the U.S. government before being put on disability. 

Barbara really enjoyed going on ski trips to Colorado with her family. At Grandwood Assisted Living she loved playing bingo and going on trips.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Galen Cope and brother, Larry Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Jane Barnhart of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; siblings, Sue Keith (Bud) of Anderson, Missouri, Jo McClellan (Rick) of Shawnee, Kansas, Jolene Nipp (Terry) of Branson West, Missouri; grandchildren, Maggie Banhart and Matthew Banhart.

Funeral service for Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Pastor Alfred “Bud” Keith will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Lees Summit Historical Cemetery in Lees Summit, Missouri.
