Louise McCord

Louise McCord, 71, of Oswego, passed away at 10:40 p.m., Sunday, November 19, 2023, at her home in Oswego.

She was born on March 7, 1952, in Oswego to Wesley and Nina Mae (Hemming) Curnutte. Louise grew up at Mound Valley and attended Mound Valley schools and Labette County High School.

Louise moved to Oswego in 1984, later she lived at Grand Lake, and moved back to Oswego in 2019. She worked as a cook, caregiver, cleaned homes, and was a homemaker. She also managed the kitchen at the Oswego VFW.







She enjoyed growing and tending to flowers in her garden, word search puzzles, collecting seashells and sea glass, traveling with her family, spending time with her grandchildren, family gatherings, and her tv program, Dancing with The Stars.

Louise had a of love traveling, the ocean, beaches, and family. Taking trips to Puerto Rico, the gulf coast, cruises, and to New York to visit her, Aunt Ann were her favorites. She was a sweet, kind, loving person who will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Louise never knew a stranger and considered friends as part of her family.

Louise and Richard “Mick” McCord were married in Oswego. He survives of the home.







In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Rob Kellogg of Oronogo, MO and William O’Neal of Oswego; her daughter, Lisa Thomas of Chanute; her grandchildren, Ryan Kellogg, Derek Kellogg, Mandy Garretson, Michelle Vincent, Trevor Kellogg, Trey O’Neal, Shelby O’Neal, Tanner O’Neal, and Lacey Rivera; many great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Rose Mary Cross of Oswego; her sister-in-law, Cheryel Cross of Oswego; and her brother-in-law, David McCord of Oswego; and her pride and joy, “Lacy”. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorene Kellogg on August 30, 2012; her parents, Wesley Curnutte and Nina Caldwell; her stepfather, Glen Caldwell; and her aunt, Ann Hortace.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Geoff Buffalo officiating. Burial will be held in the Labette Cemetery at a later date. Friends may come to the funeral home at their convenience to sign the register.
