Lisa Martin

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

Lisa Dayle Martin, age 56, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in the early morning of Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Lisa was born in Joplin, MO on March 5, 1967 to parents Dale Holly and Dorothy Pickering (Pence). She attended Joplin Schools, where she very much enjoyed cheering on the Eagles, and graduated from Memorial High School with the Class of 1985. She was a lifetime resident of the 4-state area and loved nothing more than to use her time to give back to the community in many ways.

Lisa was a devoted and loving mother, grandma (Mi), daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her family and friends were her greatest passion, and she loved caring for, baking for and spending time with all that she loved.

She is survived by three beautiful daughters, Jessica Hurley, Audrey Borok, and Erin Martin; two amazing son-in-laws, Michael Borok and Joshua Hurley; her caring mother, Dorothy "Dottie" Pickering; four incredible siblings, Dwayne Holly (wife, Carlyss), Wes Holly, Darwin Holly and Dawn Lewis (husband, Robbie); eight extraordinary grandchildren, Madelyn, Parker, Quinn, Addison, Everly, Hadley, Liam, and Nora; as well as dozens of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews of whom she was so proud of.

Her father, Dale Holly, who entered into heaven in 2013, held the most special place in her heart and was her biggest cheerleader in life. To think about the reunion they had in heaven earlier this week is one of the sweetest moments we can imagine. She was also preceded in death by her always thoughtful stepmom, Shirley Holly; as well four grandchildren, Avery, Blake, Taylor, and Riley whom we know are already sitting on her lap getting all the hugs that we cannot give them now.

For anyone who would like to honor her memory, a celebration of life will be held at 12pm on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Pastor Brad Wieneke will officiate. Private burial will take place at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin, MO.

In lieu of flowers, we know Lisa would be honored to have any memorial contributions be made to Honor and Hope in honor of her heavenly grandchildren [www.honorandhope.org]. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
