Herman Calvin

Herman F. Calvin, 90, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home. He was born on August 31, 1933, to Jesse Calvin and Marie (Duncan) Calvin in La Russell, Missouri. Herman has been a lifetime resident of Carthage, served his country in the Navy, and was employed at Safeway Food where he retired after 37 years. He was a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri. 

Herman was part of a very big family, he was one of 12 siblings: J.T. Calvin (Ruth), Donald Lee Calvin (Carolyn), Kenneth Calvin (Marilyn), Stanley Cavin (Janice) Sam Calvin (Carolyn), Walter Calvin (Karen), Wilma Cleous (Sandy), Wanda Smith (Jack), Dorothy Kelly (Clarence), Marlene Kloak (Michael), and Sharon Calvin.

Herman was united in marriage to Barbara Cline on July 14, 1956, in Plew, Missouri; she preceded him in death.

He leaves behind three granddaughters, Anna Letts (Amos) of Reeds, Jessica Calvin of Joplin, and Larin Burns (John) of Bolivar; six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alexis, Dayton, Darren, Lucy, and Macoy; and one daughter in law, Kim Calvin of El Dorado Springs.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Bill Calvin, and Gray Calvin; and one granddaughter, Katie Calvin.

A funeral has been scheduled for Herman at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. The burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage, following the service.
