Dick Peak

Richard E. “Dick” Peak, 76, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of Girard, died at 10:20 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at his residence.

Dick was born September 23, 1947 in Girard, a son of David J. and E. Arlene (Wheat) Peak. He grew up and attended schools in Girard and graduated from the Girard High School in 1965. He attended PSU and studied electrical trades.








Dick served in the US Air Force from 1965 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1968.

He married Betty Lee May on August 12, 1966 in St. Michael’s Church at Girard and she survives of the home.

He worked as a press operator at various printing companies in Girard and he owned and operated Peak Printing in Girard from 1990 until 1999. Dick retired in 2007.

Dick was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Girard and for 55 years, the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard.








He enjoyed his family, fishing, camping, and flying private aircraft.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Betty, of the home are a son, Ronald A. Peak, and his wife, Lorna, of Chanute; his daughter, Erika D. Calkins, and her husband, Duff, of Neosho; his grandchildren Brittnee (Brad) Leitch, Zakary Pride, MacKynze Pride (fiancé Brenden Keepper), Ashley (Dalton) Stalder, Tracey (Dakota) Gibbens, Duff Jr. (Nicole) Calkins, Jessy (Nik) Merriman, Lucas Calkins, Bodee Calkins, Dawson Peak, Griffin (Kaitlyn) Cooper, Faith Cooper, Ashton Cooper; his great-grandsons Benson and A.J. Leitch; his brothers Jim Peak, and his wife, Kathy, of Girard and Jeff Peak, and his wife, Tracie, of Girard; his sister Marilyn Meck of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Tony Pride, on January 30, 2018.

Memorial graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
