(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Neal Louis Ball, a devoted servant of God through ministry and music, peacefully departed this life on November 21, 2023, at Communities of Wildwood, following an illness.
Born in Joplin on June 18, 1955, Neal was the son of the late Earl and Norma (Gourley) Ball. His roots in the community ran deep, graduating from Joplin High School in 1973 and later earning a BS Degree in Accounting from MSSU. Neal's professional journey led him to become the CFO of The Alliance of Southwest Missouri, culminating a career rooted in financial stewardship.
In 2012, Neal answered a divine call and was ordained as a Minister. He passionately served as a spiritual leader at Empire Baptist Church and Celebration Church, leaving an indelible mark on both congregations, showcasing his deep connection to God through the power of music.
As a member of multiple church choirs and the MSSU Choral Society, Neal expressed his faith through song, bringing joy and solace to those around him. His love for ministry and music was paralleled by his commitment to the community, demonstrated through volunteer activities and fundraising for local non-profits.
On February 14, 1975, Neal sealed a lifelong commitment to his beloved Marcia Findley in marriage. Their enduring love story was woven with faith, laughter, and shared purpose. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Ball, one brother, Les Ball, two sisters, Janis Ball and Rita Breen, all of Joplin, as well as brother and sisters-in-law: Bob and Pam Findley, Lynn Hurley, and Kent and Lea Ann Findley, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lowell Ball; and one sister, Linda Ball.
Neal's legacy of faith, music, and service will be celebrated at funeral services held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, at Celebration Church, with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 2 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Neal and Marcia Ball Full Potential Euphonic Scholarship Fund or Celebration Church, care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory. Neal's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched through his unwavering faith and musical ministry.
