Nina Hirshey

Nina Marie Hirshey, 97 of Joplin, MO. passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of December 7, 2024 after a long fulfilling life.

Nina was born on September 17, 1927, to Oscar and Iva Middleton in Joplin the fourth of eight siblings.
After attending Joplin and Diamond schools, Nina began adult life by marrying John Hirshey on July 28, 1943. Together they raised three children. They were married 60 years when he passed in 2003.








Throughout her 97 years, Nina was a devout Christian and attended Mt. Hope Church of Christ for many years. She was also a long-time and passionate fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, a frequent visitor of Table Rock Lake and an excellent seamstress. Her beautiful creations are cherished among loved ones.

A strong-willed and loving woman, Nina passed surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hirshey, 2003, her parents, brothers, Don, Bob, Mike and Buddy Middleton, and sister, Juanita (Middleton) Martin.

She is survived by three generations of loving family. Her son; John Hirshey, Jr., daughters; Karen Cole (Dennis) and Joy Cole (Steve). She had five grandchildren, Derek Cole (Summer), Jeff Cole, Heather Walther (Chip), Kristen Teeter (Jason), and Amber Vigueria (Joe). Ten great-grandchildren; Jordan Berry, Emily Cole, Jenna Teeter, Lily Walther, Owen Walther, Zachary Teeter, Isabelle Vigueria, Annie Vigueria, Lucas Teeter and Luke Vigueria.








Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in care of the mortuary.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, MO. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation prior to the service on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
