Doc Brewer

Durward (Doc) Brewer, age 79, Neosho, MO passed away with cancer on Oct. 4, 2018.

 He was born in Cleora, OK on October 18, 1938 to the parents of Willie and Ellen Brewer. He was a graduate of Miami High School, MSSC and earned his MBA at Pittsburg State University. He was an Army Veteran. Doc worked at several machinery companies including Boeing, Vickers Hydraulics in Joplin (1963-1998) as an Industrial Engineering Manager to Plant Manufacturing Manager until its closing in 1998. Doc bought Skateland in Monett in 1980 and expanded to Neosho, building and operating from 1989-2000.

He was a world traveler going to 6 out of the 7 continents, visiting over 30 countries. He was a man of many talents and knowledge. He loved to garden and enjoyed bird watching. He followed the stock market, was an avid reader and loved all puzzles. He was super friendly and would strike up a conversation with anyone.

He married Donna Broyles on March 1, 1958 and they were married for over 60 loving years. He is also survived by 2 sons, Don and his wife, Audrey, Pottsboro, TX, and Gary, Joplin, MO; 1 daughter, Catherine Stockton, Neosho, MO; 10 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. Durward was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen and Willie Brewer; 2 brothers Wayne and Clemit; 2 sisters Darlene and Marie; 1 son, Wes; and 1 grandson, Matt.

Funeral services for Doc will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, on Wednesday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. B. A. Austin officiating. The family will receive family and friends at a time of visitation at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 6-7 p.m.
