Larry Ruark

William Larry Ruark, age 80, of Everton, Missouri, passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at his home. He was born January 6, 1938, in Lawrence County, Missouri, the son of William Lloyd and Mary Arvilla (Spielman) Ruark.

Larry was a 1955 graduate of Miller High School and attended Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri. At the age of 11, he was baptized in Turnback Creek and at the age of 22, he became an ordained deacon for the New Home Baptist Church. He served in Army National Guard for six years and in the late 1980’s, he served on the Bank Board of the Miller Mercantile Bank. He was a carpenter and cattle and crop farmer.

On January 9, 1959, he married Linda Lou Batey in Miami, Oklahoma. Larry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda; two daughters, Kristy Harrington and her husband, Mark, of Everton and Sherri Ruark of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Anna Harrington and fiancĂ©e, Dallas Eoff, of Nixa, Missouri and William “Wil” Harrington and his wife, Emily, of Springfield; one great-grandson, Luke William Harrington and one sister, Linda Sue Richardson and her husband, Mike, of Joplin, Missouri.

His parents, Lloyd and Mary and son, William Shae Ruark, preceded him in death.

A funeral service, under the direction of the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at the New Home Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Gum Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018, in the funeral home chapel.

Memorial donations may be made payable to the Shae Ruark Memorial Endowment Fund for the
Child Advocacy Center in Springfield, in care of the funeral home.
