Marie G. Miracle, age 91, Joplin, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at The Communities of Wildwood.
Marie was born October 24, 1927 in Stella, Missouri, daughter of the late Onn Nunley and Grace Smith Nunley. She graduated from Stella High School, and worked over the years on and off for Southwestern Bell as an operator. Her job moved her to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she met a returning World War II Army Veteran named Harold, L. Miracle, and they got married on March 10, 1951. They lived in Colorado Springs, then Tulsa, Oklahoma before returning to the Joplin area. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She had a strong faith and loved singing gospel songs. She was a frequent visitor to local care facilities where she enjoyed spending time visiting and singing with the elderly. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and sewing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, who passed away September 1, 2006; two brothers, Bill and Raymond Nunley; two sisters, Ruth Broady and Myrtle Bond; niece, Carolyn Anderson; and a nephew, Martin Anderson.
Survivors include her children, Connie Morris of Joplin, and Howard J. Miracle and wife Mary of Webb City; grandchildren, John W. Kell of Springfield, Missouri, and Brian J. Miracle of Joplin; great-grandson, Brett Miracle; sisters, Dorothy Anderson of Duquesne, Missouri, and Norma Penry of Meridian, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jeff D. Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
