Beverly Riddle

(From White Funeral Home)

Beverly Riddle, age 76, of Wheaton, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Mrs. Riddle, daughter of Leo and Dallis Brattin, was born on September 30, 1942, in Wheaton, Missouri. She was a 1960 Wheaton High School graduate. On June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Larry Riddle at the First Baptist Church in Cassville. Mrs. Riddle was the owner of Riddle’s Cameo Boutique (Riddle’s Beauty Supply) in Joplin for over thirty-five years.

A diagnosis of breast cancer in 1991 led Beverly to dedicate her life to supporting other women with the disease. Through her store, she helped women through counseling, education, advocacy, wig fittings, breast prostheses and much more. After her cancer returned, she became even more involved in advocacy and patients’ rights.

In 1997 Beverly, along with her daughter in-law, Teresa, co-founded Women’s Pavilion in Rogers, Arkansas. She and her husband, Larry, were instrumental in establishing a breast cancer foundation in Joplin and in 2000, Colin Powell presented her with an award recognizing her as a community hero. She believed that all individuals battling cancer should have access to healthcare and should have the opportunity to live a life with dignity. For this reason, she never turned a customer away and often provided services and items free of charge.

Beverly was a loving mother and a very proud granny to eight grandchildren. She and her husband, Larry, enjoyed working in the gardens of their farm and spending time with their family. Beverly had great energy and a zest for life. She enjoyed frequent travel with Larry to Maui and many other amazing places. She has been described manytimes as an "angel on earth.” She was an incredible woman and she will be greatly missed.

Beverly and Larry were married for fifty-six years and are now rejoicing together in heaven.

Survivors include her two sons, Douglas V. Riddle and his wife Teresa L. Riddle, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Gregory D. Riddle, of Joplin; one daughter, Jessica L. King and her husband Dr. Kevin P. King, of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, Kelsey Riddle and her husband, Hariram Vasudevan of Austin, Texas, Morgan Riddle, of Austin, Texas; Madison Riddle, Olivia Riddle, and Lauren Riddle of Joplin; Lucas King, Anna King, and Eli King of St. Louis. Two brothers, Charley Brattin and his wife Carolyn, of Cassville; Don Brattin and his wife Geraldine, of Branson; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton. To honor Beverly’s wishes, a ‘celebration of life’ will take place at the family farm after the service.
