(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)
Jerry Semler drew his last breath in the arms of his daughter on Friday, July 26, continuing his journey into the arms of Jesus.
He was born November 3, 1934 at the family farm in Marion Township, Ohio to Ralph W. and Ruth M.(Frederick) Semler. He lived in Findlay, Ohio all of his childhood. He graduated from Findlay High School and International Business College in Fort Wayne, IN. Upon graduation, he became the secretary/bookkeeper for the World Missions Department of the Pentecostal Church of God headquartered in Joplin, later taking on the responsibility of managing the Messenger Publishing House for 20 years. The family moved to Tulsa where he was employed and retired from Oklahoma Offset as their executive estimator for large newspaper circular inserts. He also owned multiple apartment units and worked for H &R Block every tax season. He loved spending time with his family, tending to his fruit trees, gardens, and berries, playing with his comfort dog, Murphy and fishing at Roaring River.
The biggest catch of his life was E. Ferrell (Measimer) Semler whom he loved and adored. They were married on August 18, 1955. They had three children. Dennis (Kathy) Semler of Tulsa, OK; Julie (Steve) Monaco of Springdale, AR; and Dwight (Jennifer) Semler of Wheaton, IL. There are five grandchildren. Kylie (Terry) Skiles of Pflugerville, TX; Matthew (Colleen) Semler, Covington, KY; Lyndsay (Brian) McNeer of Huntsville, AR; Meghan (Brian) Fisher of Wheaton, IL and Connor Scanlan of Wheaton, IL. Great grandsons are Hunter and Taylor McNeer of Huntsville, AR.
Jerry is survived by his Sister, Thelma Barberree of Findlay, OH and a Sister-in-law, Ellen (Bob) Papa of Middlesex, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, E. Ferrell Semler, his parents, Ralph and Ruth Semler, Sisters, Dorothy Eileen Semler(infant) and Doris Jean Dilts.
Jerry was a gentle, meek and soft spoken man. Genuine and hardworking. Those traits were indeed his strengths.
