Teresa Whitledge

Teresa Jeanette Whitledge, age 70, of Carthage, MO died on Thursday, August 01, 2019 at Freeman Health System West in Joplin, MO. Ms. Whitledge was born in Kansas City, MO on Friday, July 08, 1949. She was the daughter of Earl Whinery and Mabel (Rimmer) Cates. 

Ms. Whitledge was the first female union yard worker for Santa Fe Railroad where she painted locomotives until she retired. She then worked as an admission clerk at McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, MO. Ms. Whitlege enjoyed quilting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and baking. Spending time with her family was very important to her. She also enjoyed watching birds (Cardinals, Bluebirds, and Hummingbirds).








Surviving are the following: one son, Billy Duggins of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Joanna Lowe of Edwardsville, KS; one sister, Nina Stirling of Carthage, MO, and one half-sister, Ruby Tavis of Kansas City, KS; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ms. Whitledge was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael; and a half-sister, Kathy.

Graveside Services will be August 10, 2019 at Van Buren Cemetery at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow. Funeral arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
