Blair Hoyt

Lawrence Blair Hoyt, age 89, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Neosho, Mo. Services will be at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, Friday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Will Lee officiating. Following the service, military honors will be held graveside at IOOF cemetery.

Larry Blair was born February 26, 1933, in Neosho, Missouri, to Edward and Sylvia (Nance) Hoyt. 








Blair will be affectionately remembered by his wife of 64 years, Marianne Moll; his son, Edward E. Hoyt, LTC, USA, Ret. (Deborah) of Springfield, VA; his daughter Arlene Hoyt-Schulze of Rio Rancho, NM; his grandsons Daniel H. Boman (Erica Alcantara) of Albuquerque, NM; and Ryan E. Schulze of Rio Rancho, NM; great-grandchildren, Darren, Dean, Dayla, and Dyla Boman; and his brother Ronald E. Hoyt, LTC, USAF, Ret., Helotes, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cecil M. Hoyt, and son-in-law Aaron Schulze.

Blair was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Neosho and had great admiration for Rev. Homer Keith and Rev. Arthur Smith. His first jobs were at the Neosho Daily News and Don C. Rowe printing company. In his youth he was an avid spelunker exploring many local caves. He enjoyed weekends fishing with his granddad Robert Nance.

Blair was a member of NHS graduating class 1951. He joined the Air Force in 1953, and became a Russian Linguist and served in the 6910th USAF Security Service, Landsberg am Lech, and the 615th AC&W Squadron, Birkenfeld, Germany, serving 20 years. He spoke English, Russian, and German. He and Marianne were married in 1957 in Zweibrucken, Germany.

Blair was an avid traveler, having spent three tours in Germany, and visited many countries including Italy, Spain, France, Monaco, Holland, Scotland, Ireland, and lived in Biloxi, MS; Syracuse, NY; Kansas City, MO; Duluth, MN; Port Moller, AK. 

 He enjoyed attending military reunions and traveled extensively across the United States. His hobbies included genealogy, gardening, flowers, photography, and history. He will always be remembered for his colorful stories and vast historical knowledge. 

Retired TSgt Larry Hoyt returned to his hometown of Neosho, completed his college degree, worked at the Joplin Post Office and attended to his mother, and his aunts Cecil Trollope and Josephine Cherry, and was active at First Presbyterian. Donations may be made to the Neosho First Presbyterian Church.
