(From Knell Mortuary)Darrel Ray Turnbow, age 75, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1947, in Coalgate, Oklahoma, the son of the late Montie Turnbow and Leona (Thies) Turnbow. He was a 1965 graduate of Coalgate High School and was a Vietnam veteran serving his country with the United States Army.
He married Linda Kirk on November 8, 1986, in Joplin, Mo.
He worked for The News Group as a manger and supervisor until his retirement. Darrel loved working outside, camping, woodworking, gardening, traveling, building things, and specially spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, Cristy Higgs (Don), McAlester, Oklahoma, Neil Turnbow, McAlester, Oklahoma, and Dustin Turnbow, Billings, Montana; two sisters, Linda Svenneby, and Dorothy Thompson; brother, David Turnbow; two grandchildren, Stevie Ryan, and Brianna Higgs; three great grandchildren, Wylee Ryan, Sadie Ryan, and Davy Nickerson; and mother in-law Eloise Kirk.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Manis, and a grandson Christopher Turnbow.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till service at the Church. The family suggests contributions to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Crossroads Baptist Church in care of the Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be express through www.knellmorutary.com.
