Cecil Hembree

Cecil Everett Hembree, age 72, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at 3:51 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, following a sudden illness due to Agent Orange exposure during the Korean Conflict. 

He was born August 30, 1949, in Seneca, Missouri, to the late Othneal and Norma Jean (Minson) Hembree. Cecil lived in Newton County most of his life and graduated from Seneca High School in 1967. 







Following high school, Cecil served in the Army from 1969 to 1971. He was awarded the Defense Medal and the Special Service Medals. Cecil was a member and past Commander of the Neosho VFW Post # 4142, the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Joplin Eagles Lodge.

On May 17, 1971, he married Linda Hobson in Bentonville, Arkansas. She survives him of the home.

Cecil owned and operated C&H Construction and attended Monark Springs Baptist Church for many years. Cecil loved to go fishing and spend time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Danniel Hembree of Neosho; three sisters, Laura Severs of Joplin, Dolly Ackerson, and her husband, David, of Seneca, Vickie Beasley of Republic; one granddaughter, Abby Hembree of Joplin; and his beloved best friend, Jack Jones.

His daughter, Delores Hembree, sister Judy Cartwright, and brother, Jack Hembree, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, with James Lankford officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Neosho.
