Sheila Embrey

Sheila K. Embrey, age 62, of Joplin, passed away on March 14, 2022 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.

Sheila, daughter of the late Glenn O. and Velma L. (Charleston) Britt, was born on March 8, 1960 in Mexico, MO. She was united in marriage to Marvin Embrey, who preceded her in death. Sheila had a servant’s heart working in healthcare most of her life and being an active member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Shea James, and her husband, Rafeal James, of Joplin, and Aundrea Britt-Jones, and her husband Vaughlee Jones of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, D’Arco and Asante' Britt, both of Louisville, KY, and Mataou and Semaj James, of Joplin; one great grandchild, Grayson Brock-Britt, of Louisville, KY; one sister, Regina Lee, and her husband, Sherman Lee, of Louisville, KY; brothers, Anthony Britt, and his wife Audrey, and Patrick Britt, both of Louisville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews; and several spiritually adopted children who she loved like her own. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett Britt and Aundre Britt; and one sister, Irene Carlton.

The family will hold Celebration of Life services on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Joplin at 2pm.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
