(From Parker Mortuary)Karen Frances Burns, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Diamond at her family home.
Karen was born January 31, 1943 in Appleton City, Missouri, daughter of the late Ted Rotert and Viola (Putthoff) Rotert. She grew up on a farm in Germantown, Missouri, and then worked in childcare all of her adult life. She truly loved children, and they loved her as well. She was a devote Catholic, and currently attending St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Joplin. She had an intense faith, and truly loved her Lord.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Calvin Burns, who passed away on August 9, 2014, a brother-in-law, Willard Bettles, and a sister-in-law, Angela Rotert.
Survivors include her children, Christina Schoen and husband Brian of Kansas City, Missouri, Bradley Burns and wife Allie, and Terry Burns and wife Heather all of Joplin; 10 grandchildren, Austin Burns, Brendyn Burns, Cole Burns, Nicholas Schoen, Lauryn Schoen, Michael Karraker, Mercedes Burns, Brylee Burns, Clayton Pugh, and Jarrett Pugh; sisters, Maureen Bettles of Butler, Missouri, Annette Swaters and husband Roger of Deepwater, Missouri; brothers, Wayne Rotert of Kansas City, Missouri, Alan Rotert of Clinton, Missouri, and Robert Rotert and wife Susan of Appleton City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with private family inurnment at Osborne Memorial Cemetery Niche.
The family will be available for visiting following the Mass.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
