Milly Prince

Mildred Ann “Milly” Prince, age 85, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Mercy of Springfield.

Milly was born May 12, 1936, in Stapleton, Missouri, daughter of the late Isaac Dennis Pendley and Nellie May (Skelton) Pendley. She grew up in Joplin, finished 9th grade and later obtained her GED, where she received the highest score ever achieved in Missouri. 










She worked in several area nursing homes and received her LPN degree before going to work for St. John’s Hospital in Joplin. She began working at the age of 15 and continued until retiring in 1998. She was a devoted Christian, and loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She also loved working word puzzles, visiting friends, and a good cup of coffee.

Milly is survived by her daughters, Judy Baker and husband Randy of Seneca, Missouri, Joyce Blackburn and husband Dan of Carl Junction, and Janey Roderick and husband Travis of Clearwater, Florida; a sister, Linda Donohue of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Jared Blackburn and wife Megan of Bentonville, Arkansas, Joel Blackburn and wife Jessica of Highlandville, Missouri, Matt Millard and wife Emily and Gannon Millard and wife Chelsie all of Neosho, Matthew Ford of Seneca, and Jennifer Spence of Miami, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marie Van Amber, Charles Pendley, Joe Pendley, Dennis Pendley, Alice Downy, Betty Dye, and Howard “Doc” Pendley.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Assembly of God with Pastor Darrel Brannan officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with her grandsons and son-in-law Dan Blackburn serving as pallbearers. Her good friend and neighbor, Randy Cox will serve as honorable pallbearer.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Crosslines of Joplin or New Hope Assembly of God.
