Ricki Brasier

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Ricki Lee (Fountain) Brasier, 34, of Carthage, Missouri passed from this life on March 20, 2022 while bravely battling cancer. She was born on February 21, 1988 in Gravette, Arkansas.

Ricki attended grade school in Jay, Oklahoma, then moved to Wisconsin and North Carolina before coming to Diamond, Missouri in the 4th grade. She graduated from Diamond High School where she played volleyball and basketball.

In 2007 she began working at Schlotzsky’s in Joplin. Her take charge attitude and hard work ethic quickly earned her the reputation and the title “Boss Lady.” For 12 years she successfully managed the sandwich shop, earning numerous trips and awards for top performance.

At 21 years old Ricki, a free-spirited young woman, took it upon herself to begin raising a baby girl. She would go on to adopt Emma, one of the true loves of Ricki’s life. In 2009 Ricki met Mark Brasier and in 2014 the two kindred spirits were married. A son, Lynnex, born in 2011, completed the close family.

Ricki was a true family woman. She was the glue that made their foursome into an inseparable unit. Together this tight knit family enjoyed countless outdoor adventures hunting, hiking, horseback riding, Jeeping, fishing, camping, boating, vacationing.

Ricki loved the water and grew up fishing on Table Rock Lake with her brothers and cousins. Boating on Stockton Lake was one of her favorite ways to spend a summer day. She loved to fish and the girl was good! She and Mark fished many lakes, ponds and rivers and she was SO excited to have fought and landed a shark on a trip to Florida. She also loved the mountains, exploring the trails in Colorado with her family.

Ricki was a devoted and loving mother. She never missed her kids' practices, plays, concerts or school functions. Carthage youth football, soccer and basketball fans will always remember hearing her booming voice from the stands yelling encouragement or reproach, depending on the outcome of the play.

Ricki loved sweet tea, shopping, peppermint Ghirardelli chocolate, and candles that smelled like the outdoors. She loved movies with her family, boat nachos, and traveling anywhere. She loved a good barbeque with friends and family, daily phone calls with her momma, and sleep-in Saturdays with pancakes.

She raised her kids to be independent thinkers, not to take life too seriously, and to be loyal to the things that matter. She shared an unbreakable bond with her husband. She was passionately and brutally honest with the people she loved best which is why so many sought her advice. She never left anyone without wrapping them in a heartfelt bear hug. Her hugs were famous for making a person feel warm, loved and important.

Ricki loved fiercely, she simply didn’t know any other way. A person always knew how much they meant to her when she would say, “I love you big.” Ricki was strong willed, confident, a loving fireball of a woman. She was fierce and brave and wise beyond her years. Ricki didn’t lose her battle with cancer; her earthly body simply wasn’t as strong as her spirit.

Ricki is survived by her husband, Mark Brasier, her children, Emma Althea (13) and Lynnex Mark (10), brothers Justin Carman and John Fountain, parents Nancy Carman and Troy Harryman and John and Pam Fountain, grandmother Edith “Peanut” Blevins, best friend Brittany Cantrell, step-children Kaden Brasier, MaeKenzee Brasier and Jackson Brasier, granddaughter Blakely, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will take place at Mason-Woodard Mortuary on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. Address is 3701 East 7th Street, Joplin, Missouri
