Mike Myers

Roy Michael “Mike” Myers, age 70, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Freeman Hospital.

Mike, son of the late Roy and Margie (Edwards) Myers, was born on November 25, 1951 in Joplin. Roy spent most of his life in the Joplin area graduating from Carl Junction High School in 1969. 

Over the years he worked various jobs and spent over 30 years in the truck driving industry. Most recently he was a driver for Hertz in Joplin. 

Mike had a passion and a love of cars. He has been very active in Joplin area car cruises for many years. He was also able to incorporate another one of his passions, music, by DJing at car cruises, shows, and charity events. Mike lived his happy life the way he wanted. He loved his driving jobs, but loved his friends and car shows even more. He would frequently tell his employers that he had to be off at certain times so he could attend events. Mike was well liked by friends and acquaintances, loved by his family, and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include, his siblings, Dennis Myers, and wife Nancy, of Joplin, Vicki Myers Dees, of Joplin, and David Myers, and wife Deanie, of Joplin; one remaining aunt; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin. Family will receive friends beginning at 11:00AM on Friday at the mortuary, until time for procession to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carthage or Joplin Humane Society and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
