Gladys Huellinghoff

(From Parker Mortuary)

Gladys Lucille Huellinghoff, age 96, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 20th 2022 at 6:30PM. Gladys was born on October 13, 1925 in Bald Knob, Arkansas to Sanford and Dora (Martin) Sutterfield. Her mother later married Uless Clifford Combs who was the only father or grandfather her children knew and loved.

Gladys was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Dora Jeffers and husband Jerry, Jean Simon and husband Jerry, Flora Jane Wilcox, Patricia Farley and husband Roy, Gail Vaughan and husband Larry, Leroy Dickey and wife Donna, Gary Keller, Joetta Miller and Ann Casey and husband Robert. She prayed every day for her 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her mother and father, two brothers, Albert and Jim, and her youngest son, Glen.

Gladys married Jerry Huellinghoff, the love of her life, on November 30, 1973. Jerry spoiled her and gave her the happy life she had been looking for. He passed away on April 11, 2017 and she missed him every day until her death. Being a social butterfly who never met a stranger, she had many friends, especially her friend Shirley Ritter who became like a sister to her.

She loved going to church and taking part in Sunday School Class discussions, being a member Fairview Baptist Church in her last years. She was a member of the Joplin Service Club of the Blind and enjoyed going to lunch to visit and eat with her friends when she was well enough.

Memorial Services will be held at Fairview Baptist Church on Saturday, March 26 at 10:30AM. Memorial contributions can be made to Fairview or Joplin Association for the Blind.
