(From Knell Mortuary)Dean Gokie, 82, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Friday morning, March 18, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.
Dean was born February 8, 1940 in O’Neill, Nebraska, the son of Conrad Gokie and Eileen (Johnson) Gokie. He was raised and grew up in Atkinson, Nebraska.
Dean married Sheryl (Lenker) Burton on December 29, 1982 in Ord, Nebraska. He worked in sales until his retirement.
Dean attended Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, traveling, his cats and dogs, but most of all, loved his family, especially his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Gokie, Carthage; two daughters, Kim Rosenquist, and Jana Thomas; four sons, Mike Gokie, Steve Gokie, Mark Gokie, and Jeff Burton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kelly Burton; and two brothers and a sister.
Per Dean’s wishes, there was cremation. Memorial services will be held 10 am, Friday, March 25, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
