(From Knell Mortuary)Louis “Buddy” Raymond Harris, 77, passed away Monday morning March 28, 2022 in his Carthage, Missouri home surrounded by loving family.
Buddy is survived by his daughter Dina Kay Butcher and her husband Jeff; daughter Laurie Ann Dunn and her husband Jim; grandchildren Blake Butcher, Brett Williams, and Jessica Williams; brother Everett Harris; nephews and nieces Donnita Ghramm, Michael Stokes, Rowdy Strait, Jennifer Harris-Ogle, Ginger Atkins, and Kelly Spencer; in addition to many other great nephews and nieces who he adored.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Harris, who passed away in 2008; sister, Beth Anne Reeder; brother, Terry Harris; niece, Amy Miller; and nephew, Rocky Strait.
Buddy was born & raised in Carthage, Missouri, leaving at an early age to start working offshore on the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, then eventually returning to Carthage where he worked construction, owned a millwright business, and started a family with his wife, Shirley, who he adored all 39 years of their marriage. He had a special bond with both of his daughters, who could not have asked for a better father.
Upon retirement, Buddy enjoyed working in his garage, being outdoors, fishing, coin collecting, road trips, and visiting local casinos. For the past 15+ years, he also took pride in being a caregiver for his younger sister, Lizbeth Reeder.
Of course, he was admired by his family and friends, but Buddy also never met a stranger. He liked to meet new people and make them laugh by sharing his stories, which they all loved to hear. Buddy will be remembered and missed dearly by many.
Memorial graveside services will be held 11 am, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Osborne Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. Memorial gifts are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
