Albert Otis Palmer, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his home.
Albert was born July 17, 1930 in Joplin, son of the late Raymond B. Barnard and Darlene Harmon. He attended Joplin Schools, and then served in the United States Navy from 1946 through 1950. He returned to Joplin and worked as a mechanic before taking his skills to the next level, becoming a aerospace mechanic working for McDonald Douglas, Lockheed-Martin, and also doing contract work for the Military working on plane design. He traveled the country doing this before settling in Arizona, and retiring in 1995 from Lockheed-Martin. He returned to Joplin shortly after retirement.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Wilson Palmer, who died January 17, 2007, and a sister, Betty Jean Barnard.
Survivors include his children, Albert D. Palmer and Glenda Smith of Joplin, Terri Lee Windahl and Norman, Betty Darlene Newsted and Leonard all of Buckeye, Arizona; brothers, Paul Palmer and Sally of Indiana, Floyd D. Short and Linda of Joplin; sisters, Hazel Mahon and Lee of Joplin, Carol K. Wallace and Jimmy of Senora, California; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Kaye Conrad officiating. Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #13.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
