Galen Wayne Grant, Sr., age 70, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Galen was born December 21, 1946 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the late Fred Grant and Mazie Vader Grant. After high school, Galen join the U.S. Navy where he served two different terms before being honorably discharged. Galen worked as a school bus driver for 28 year with the Joplin R-VIII school district, also working for Associated Reddy Mix, as a cement truck driver. He attended church at Christ Church of Oronogo.
On July 11, 1979, Galen married Penny Vaughan in Miami, Oklahoma, she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Galen Grant, Jr. of Joplin; daughters, Mary Grant of Joplin and Terrie Day of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Natosha Dates, Hailey Grant, Brandon, Dylan, Gage and Sierra Day.
Other than his parents, Galen was preceded in death by three sisters, Janice Eckhart, Phyllis League and Shirley Greer.
A visitation is planned for Saturday, June 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Following the visitation, family and friends are welcome to gather the Galen and Penny's home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
