Calvin C. Nance, age 90, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 2:33 a.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his home. Calvin was born March 11, 1927 in Anderson, Mo. He had lived in Joplin for over 35 years. He previously owned service stations, and a propane business. When he came to Joplin he worked at a couple of service stations, and for twelve years worked at Mr. C’s Blind Co. in Joplin, retiring in 2011. Calvin was a member of Faith Baptist Church and served as song leader. He was a musician, and played guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. Calvin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Calvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor, two sons, six brothers, and two sisters.
He married his beloved Adabelle Burkey Sundy June 3,1985 in Miami, Ok. and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Calvin D. Nance and wife Yolie, Sarcoxie, Mo, four step sons, Ron Sundy, Gary Sundy, Bill Sundy, and Rick Sundy, one sister, Emma Lou Thomason, Marshall Mo., 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Pastor Bruce Allen, and Rev. Don Carden officiating. Burial will follow at the Garber Cemetery, west of Sarcoxie. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel. Memorial contributions are requested to the Faith Baptist Church in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
