Rose Elizabeth Brown, 77, of Galena, KS passed from this life on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.
Rose was born on June 2, 1940 in Peoria, Oklahoma to the union of Marion Francis and Verna Mae (Jimmerson) Carver. Rose graduated from Quapaw High School with the class of 1958.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Glenda Sills; one son, Shane Brown; one son-In-law, David Michael; two brothers, Loran Carver, and Norman Carver; two sisters, Noma Holt, and Kathleen Weddel.
Rose is survived by one son, Danny Sills of Norman, OK; two daughters, Kim Michael of Joplin, MO, and Vickie Locke and husband Tim of Norman, OK; two brothers, Wayne Carver and wife Pearl of Dallas, TX, and John Carver and wife Teresa of Carl Junction, MO; four sisters, Loretta Aquino and husband George of Ft. Worth, TX, Carol Eddy and husband Jack of Meriden, KS, Eileen Adams of Galena, KS, and Wilma Scott and husband Dennis of Ozakie, KS; six grandchildren, Rhiannon Medley, Jennifer Emmons, Brandon Locke, Trevor Locke, Baylie Locke, and Cheyanne Locke; four great grandchildren, Brenton Moser, Kaiser Emmons, Sarah Medley, and Lilli Medley; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Rose spent many years as a military wife, staying home devoting time to her children. She then began work at Elder's Manufacturing as a single mother to provide for her kids. She retired after 20 years and started working at the Galena Nursing Center to continue providing for her kids. Rose was a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing word search puzzles. She was a big fan of OU Sooners football. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena, KS. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
