Luella Pearl Woodall of Springfield, MO passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Neighborhoods at Quail Creek in Springfield, MO. She was 93.
Luella was born December 24, 1923 in Hesston, KS to William Russell and Lora M. (Sarlls) Brock. She had lived in Springfield for 25 years moving from Miami, OK. She served in the U.S. Navy Reserves during WWII. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. Luella began teaching in a one room school house in the Carselowey Community; she taught in Joplin Schools and then taught at Picher – Cardin Elementary School retiring in 1985 after 41 years of teaching. She was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Springfield, MO and the National Education Assn.
She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Woodall in 1988, her parents and 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
She is survived by her nieces Kay Hill, Mae Casstillo, Melinda Kanthack and Deborah Stratton as well as several other and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK., with Dwight Samuel officiating. Interment was in Pence Cemetery, east of Baxter Springs, KS.
