Dorothy Ruth Sigman, age 63, of Springfield, MO, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on February 22, 1954 in McPherson, KS, daughter of the late Howard and Irene (Ray) Baxter. She was a graduate of Monett High School and furthered her education in Oregon where she studied at Portland Community College. Dorothy was a truck driver for many years, logging tens of thousands of miles. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, MO. Dorothy was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary.
On July 30, 1982 in Purdy, MO, Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl Junior Sigman. They were blessed with over thirty-four years together. Survivors include her husband, Carl, of the home; four sons, Joe Holle and wife Kim, of Joplin, MO, James Sigman and wife LeighAnn, of Cabool, MO, Jerald Sigman and wife Missy, of Cabool, and Michael Sigman and wife Carmen, of Cabool; two daughters, Jennifer Coulter, of Willard, MO and Angela Sigman, of Cabool; two brothers, Gary Baxter and Steve Baxter; two sisters, Mary Coy and Sara Hagebusch; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Larry, John, Jerry and George Baxter; and two sisters, Arlidene Mace and Flora Purkeypyle.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sigman will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Griffin will be officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to the ALS Association in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
