Helen O. Case-Diehl, age 80, Joplin, passed away at 5:23 a.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Communities of the Wildwood.
Helen was born July 1, 1936 in Frederick, Maryland to the late Charles M. and Emma Smith and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She worked as an oncology nurse at the former St. John's Regional Medical Center for over 20 years. Following retirement, she worked as a home health care nurse for several years. Helen was a former member of St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Helen married David F. Diehl on June 24, 2001 in Arkansas. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Pamela Cottrill, Joplin, Elizabeth Baum and partner, J.R. Blackwell, Carthage, Sarah Kay Baum-Coleman, Joplin; one brother, Charles Krokroskia, Louisiana; grandchildren, Nichole, Billy, Mary, India; and great grandchildren, Taila, Emma, Hazel and one on the way.
Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Cottrill, Don Wills, Zach Gripp, J.R. Blackwell, Bill Cottrill and Kenny Braun. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
