Dwight Leon Simpson age 73, of Carl Junction passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born on April 13, 1944 in Yates Center, Kansas to William Simpson and Letha (Mayes) Simpson. Dwight owned his own fencing business for many years, was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, and also a past member of the Carl Junction Fire Department.
He married Nina Simpson on June 12, 1976 in Carl Junction and she preceded him in death on February 3, 2009. Dwight is survived by a son, David Simpson and wife Becki of Miami, OK; sister, Cecilea Lewis and husband John of Webb City; brother, Lonnie Joe Simpson; nephew, Rusty Lewis; and a granddaughter, Hailey Simpson.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
