Rodney Wayne Slaughter of Miami, OK went to be with the Lord and his soul mate Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. He lost his battle with cancer. He was 70.
Rodney was born October 11, 1946 in Wichita, KS to Otis Hilburn and Lola Myers. He had lived in the Miami area for the past 20 years moving from Oklahoma City. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of the VFW Post in Grove. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Miami, OK. Rodney was a salesman for Campbell Wholesale in Tulsa for the past 15 years where he thoroughly loved his customers.
He married the love of his life Elaine (Inlow) Slaughter March 4, 1966; she proceeded in death, October 10, 2013 and by his parents and several uncles and aunts.
Survivors by his only daughter Shonna Stovall and husband James of Commerce, OK, 2 sisters Donna Stamper and husband Bob of Wichita, KS and Joyce Bohlman and husband Art of Belle Plaine, KS, his true pride and joy granddaughters Hanna and Lexi Stovall of Commerce, OK, grandsons Jeremy Stovall and wife Shelly of Wyandotte, OK, Zachary Stovall and wife Rhiannan of Wyandotte, OK, Jordan Houghton of Girard, KS and granddaughter Amanda Stovall and wife Amanda of Webb City, MO, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce, OK. Pastor Leon Weece will officiate. Interment will be in Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, OK. Military Rites will be conducted by Grove Veterans Ritual Team. Pallbearers will be Brian Fields, Michael Sweeten, Josh Payton, Zach Stovall, Jeremy Stovall and Amanda Stovall. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
