Audrey Jeane Coodey, age 88 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Columbus, Kansas.
Audrey was born April 29, 1929 in Carl Junction, Missouri to the late James Nicholson and Grace Rustin Nicholson. For 20 years, she worked as the office manager for Stockyard Feed Company in Joplin. Audrey was very active in N.A.L.A., teaching students how to read and help others pass the U.S. Citizenship test. She was also was a member of the Arthritis Association. Audrey and Jack loved to travel the country, also just going for a ride when nothing else to do. They loved to camp and enjoyed the outdoors.
On December 2, 1975, Audrey married Jack Palmer Coodey in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2015.
Survivors include a son, John Robert Peppers of Joplin; daughters, Bobbie Jean Peppers of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Priscilla Mayfield of Bowie, Maryland, Elizabeth Doss and husband, Stanley of Columbus, Kansas; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Other than her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her siblings, an infant grandson, Caleb Peppers and a great grandson, Kolbin Evans.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri. Per Audrey's wishes, there are no services planned at this time. Her ashes will be interred at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
