Mrs. Judith “Judy” Glasson, 80, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away early Thursday morning, June 22, 2017 at the end of a brief but aggressive bout with cancer. She was in the comfort of her home surrounded by love.
Judy was born in Chicago on February 10, 1937 and was adopted by Ivan and Evelyn Matteson. She became an elementary school teacher and worked until she married Richard Glasson on July 9, 1960 and had four children. She enjoyed her small faith group, St. Mary’s lunch group, bowling, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and laughing. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Judy is survived by her husband, Richard; her four children, Dawn (Craig) Heslin of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Dee (Denny) Redmon of Joplin, Jeanne Hunter (Kent Caudell) of Joplin, and Eric (Laurie) Glasson of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Meghan, Josh, Brock, Cassie, Craig Jr., Chris, and Vivian; and one great-grandchild, Ethan.
Memorial Mass for Judy is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with visitation following from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
