Ruby Wilson Aust, age 85, Joplin, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Ruby was born August 20. 1931 in Camden, Arkansas, daughter of the late Louie E. Smith and Estelle Carter Smith. She graduated from Camden High School, and earned her degree in nursing from Baptist Health School of Nursing in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1952. Ruby worked in many facets of nursing during her career of over 50 years. She was a psychiatric nurse, Operating Room nurse, school nurse, was a critical care director, and also taught nursing in Saudi Arabia for 18 months. She retired in 2004.
In 1952 Ruby married her high school sweetheart, Doyle L. Wilson, and the couple lived in Camden until 1968, when they moved to Clarksdale, Mississippi. He preceded her in death, and in 1983 she married Royce M. Aust, and they moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas, and then to Texarkana, Arkansas. He also preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Wilson; and sisters, Wanda Moulder and Geton Lowery.
Survivors include her brother, Jeff Smith of Galena, Missouri; daughters, Stacy Turney (Clay) , Kelly Faulk (Danny), both of Joplin, and Sharon Holloman of Jackson, Mississippi; grandchildren, Ford Halloman, Adam and Nicholas Turney.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Philip's Episcopal Church of Joplin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
