Mr. Delmar Lee Edwards, 83, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, Missouri.
Delmar entered this life on February 2, 1934 in Sarcoxie, Missouri, to the union of the late Robert Lee and Florence Eva (LaRue) Edwards. He was a 1952 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. Through the years, Delmar never missed attending a class reunion. On May 11, 1952 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ann Stotts. Together they shared sixty-four years until her passing on September 13, 2016. Delmar worked for the Nursery in Sarcoxie, Carthage Ice and three years at Smith Brothers also in Carthage, Missouri. He was employed for more than forty years at Eagle-Picher in Joplin, Missouri. He worked in several different departments, for twenty six of those years he worked as a factory lab technician, testing eternal battery material used in the cruz and arterial missiles. For ten years Delmar lovingly cared for his wife after her illness. He enjoyed playing the guitar, french harp and singing. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows chapter in Carthage, Missouri. Delmar gave his life to Christ on January 17, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Delmar is survived by his sons, Rodney Edwards and wife, Terri of Joplin, Missouri and Kerry Edwards of Sarcoxie, Missouri; five grandchildren, Regina Schmitz and husband, Timothy, Brian Douglas, Branda Edwards, Rodney Edwards, Jr., and wife Kristy, and Sawyer Edwards and wife, Cailian; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Edwards and wife, Judy, of Sarcoxie, Missouri and Johnnie Edwards and wife, Sue, of Gainesville, Florida; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Memorial service with visitation to follow will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri. The graduation class of 1952 will be seated together. The family has directed memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home.
