Clifton Dudley Farrin Jr., age 85, of rural Oronogo, Mo. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones at 3:17 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017. Clifton was born October 15, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa. He returned to the Joplin area in 1980 after living many years in California. Clifton was employed as a Building Superintendent for the Capital Construction Co. in California. He later became involved in real estate as a builder, and investor. He was a member of both the Northern and Southern California Carpenter’s Unions. In recent years he achieved his dream of designing and building a lake home on Table Rock Lake.
Clifton married Geraldine “Gerri” Chancellor May 12, 1986 in Kansas City, Mo. and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Greg Farrin and wife Gaylene, Jasper, Mo., a daughter, Alana Scott, Hubbard, Ne., a daughter in law, Sharia Thompson and husband Craig, Miami, Ok. a sister in law, Lynn Farrin, Palmdale, Ca., 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wimpey, and two brothers, Wilbur and Robert Farrin. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Frank Buchannan Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the American Legion Post 13 in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
