Bettye J. Foust, 96, of Joplin, Mo., was welcomed home on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Bettye was born February 23, 1921, in Joplin, Mo. She graduated from Joplin High School and worked at Meeker Leather Co. until she met and married the love of her life, Cleon “C.C.” Foust on October 31, 1941. Throughout her life, Bettye was dedicated to the service and care of others through immeasurable volunteer hours in the community. In addition, she was the first woman elected as an elder at Oakland Christian Church. Over the decades, Bettye made and donated hundreds of wonderful craft projects to her church and the Auxiliary, and even found time to make beautiful Raggedy Ann dolls for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most important of all, Bettye was a loving and beloved wife, mother, Mimi to her grandchildren, aunt and friend.
Bettye is preceded in death by her husband Cleon, brother Don Robbins, and sister Agnes LaNear. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Carl) Raines; son Chuck (Kathy) Foust; sister Lou Ann Key; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special appreciation from the family to the loving care and friendship of her “adopted daughter” Ellen Strote.
